Photo Memories of 1970

I would dearly love to fill this page with nothing but photos of our year at Hereford, It doesnt matter how trivial the subject or how blurred the shot is or how geeky you looked ( for gods sake look at me )dig the damn things out and send them to me.
I really would be interested in any photos of the Passing Out Parade or any other formal type shots which are more likely to be in your parents possesion, so go on give them a call and see what they have.

No its not a photo of a Russian secret agent attempting to scale the massive Satellite Array at Raf Hereford wearing only KGB issue pajamas its just a shot of hunky old me fresh from demonstrating my Ju-Jitsu skills in the gym on Parents Day, mid 1970.
Photo is significant for the background which shows the wooden huts which we used for trade training and just about everything else including GSK & GDT training and the weekly compulsory hobby clubs. The church club was also situated in this area.

Not sure when this was taken or who took it, but its a good illustration of the block entrance with the information board showing the various ranks and insignia within the Royal Air Force. If I remember correctly the other side was blank but perspex covered so that the DI's could write messages on it in chinagraph pencil

A first class view of the front of Nicolson Block taken from the front of Learoyd Block, this one provided by Charlie Way (good man). All the barrack blocks were identical in appearance and layout. The main distingushing feature being the colour of the flower barrels outside the doors. The colour of the barrel reflected the colour of the disc worn behind the cap badge by the apprentices and denoted the flight they belonged to.

Another great shot from Charlie taken from an upstairs window in Nicolson block showing the view of Credenhill which dominated the camp. Credenhill was the scene of the weekly punishment known as Games afternoon when it was judged to be a hilarious jape to have the apprentices run up to the top of the hill and run all the way back again, some actually did this daft thing others just hid in the bushes till it had all gone away
